#EndPartisanship: ‘Fighting for Voters Without Parties’ on the Daily Record

The civil complaint, filed on March 5 in the U.S. District Court’s New Jersey Division in Newark, claims New Jersey’s primary election system violates the rights of voters who choose not to affiliate themselves with Democrats or Republicans.

The suit named Guadagno as the sole plaintiff in her capacity as New Jersey secretary of state.

The traditional two-party system, they claim, does not consider that 47.6 percent of New Jersey voters are registered as unaffiliated, compared to 32.5 percent being registered Democrats and 19.7 percent being registered as Republican.
